Middlebury man suffers major head injury after collision

A 76-year-old Middlebury man suffered a major head injury after crashing an S-U-V. The collision happened around 5:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 1, at State Road 13 and State Road 4.
Accoridng to Elkhart County Sheriff’s Deputies, the man was traveling southbound and failed to stop at the posted three-way stop at the intersection.
He continued traveling southbound, crossing both lanes of travel on State Road 4, and continued through the yard before coming to a stop after crashing into a large rock.
Investigators say the man was not wearing a seatbelt and lost consciousness at the scene.
Factors into the crash are still being investigated.
