Mayor Pete Buttigieg DNC chair rumors reignite after MSNBC interview

First they said he was considering a run. Then he said he wasn’t. Now, it would appear we’re back to square one.

In an interview with MSNBC, Mayor Pete Buttigieg stated that “I’m looking at it, I’m having a lot of conversations” when asked about his candidacy for the Democratic National Committee Chairman position.

However, he still appears to be indecisive about it. “I’m looking at it, i’m having a lot of conversations,” Buttigieg told host Steve Kornacki.

A report in Politico suggested that Buttigieg was considering running for the post vacated by the embattled Debbie Wasserman Schultz right before the Democratic National Convention this year.

Then came an op-ed the Mayor himself published on Medium.com where he stated he is “not a candidate for a position in the national party.”

We’ll know for sure next month, when candidate meet and greets begin on Jan. 13. DNC chair candidates will appear at four regional forums:

  • January 13-14th in Phoenix, AZ
  • January 27th- 28th in Houston, TX
  • February 3rd-4th in Detroit, MI
  • February 10th-11th in Baltimore, MD
