Police searching for man suspected of stealing Toys For Tots donation jar

Police in Dowagiac are searching for a man they say stole a Toys For Tots donation jar filled with money.

The theft happened in the late evening hours of Sunday, Dec. 11, at the Shell Mart gas station in the 100 block of N. Front Street in Dowagiac, according to Dowagiac Department of Public Safety Director Steven Grinnewald.

Police released surveillance images of the suspect, who was seen wearing a dark color coat with light patches under the arms. A photo of the suspect’s vehicle was also released by police, Grinnewald stated.

Anyone with information about the suspect or his whereabouts is asked to contact Dowagiac Police at 269-782-9743 or, the tip line at 1-800-462-9328, or leave an anonymous tip online.
