Between 90 to 100 children in LaGrange County will get more Christmas gifts this year thanks to an event by the LaGrange County Sheriff’s Department.

On Saturday, Dec. 3, the police department held its first “Stuff a Cruiser” toy drive. Members of the Sheriff’s Department were on the corner of S.R. 9 and U.S. 20 in LaGrange collecting toys, according to the LaGrange County Sheriff’s Department and WOWO.

The first donations came in around 8:30 a.m. and in the first hour, two police vehicles were filled. By the end of the day, about 10 trips were made to unload the toys.

“Sheriff Campos and his department were overwhelmed by the outpouring of support and generosity from the community for this event and the department,” the LaGrange County Sheriff’s Department said in a press release.  “In addition to all of the wonderful donations, department members were kept nourished throughout the day with many donations of fresh coffee, hot chocolate, and food.”

The event was set up to assist the LaGrange County Department of Child Services.
