He got the minimum sentence allowed by law for murder, but he’s still going to prison for a long time.

Tyrell Beavers, 23, was sentenced in Elkhart Circuit Court Thursday to 45 years in prison in the shooting death of Brandon Jackson, according to the Elkhart Truth.

It was back on June 23 when police were called to the 200 block of West Garfield Avenue on the report of a shooting. Officers arrived and found the front door of the apartment open.

Inside the apartment, they found the body Brandon Jackson, 24, of Elkhart, according to court documents.

Beavers and three others intended to rob Jackson after buying marijuana off him the previous day. Beavers shot Jackson after the victim went for his own gun, according to court documents.

The maximum sentence for murder is 65 years.
