The probable cause affidavit in the case of 29-year-old Amber Pasztor has been filed in the Elkhart court system. In it, it details the sobering way Pasztor said she killed her children on Monday, Sept. 26.

In the documents, it states that Pasztor admitted to Elkhart police that she smothered 7-year-old Lilliana Hernandez and 6-year-old Rene Pasztor with her own hands by covering their faces and noses, according to ABC 57.

The day started early Monday morning with Pasztor kicking down the door of her father’s home, then took the children, according to the court documents.

However, there’s no explanation of how Frank Macomber, 66, ended up dead in the woods near his Churubusco home.

From there, court documents say she traveled to Elkhart with the children, ate at a restaurant, and went to the park. It’s unclear when exactly the children were killed.

An Elkhart Police Department officer was flagged down by Pasztor at about 5:25 p.m. Monday. She then told the officer she had two dead children in her vehicle.

An autopsy report Tuesday from the Homer Stryker School of Medicine in Kalamazoo confirmed the children died of asphyxiation.

The magistrate has determined there is probable cause for Pasztor to be charged with two counts of murder. Those charges are expected to be filed later this week, according to a press release from the Elkhart County Prosecutor’s Office.

Pasztor is being held without bond at Elkhart County Jail because of an Allen County warrant. Her next hearing date is set for Oct. 6.
