A man has been arrested after robbing the Burger King restaurant in the 4800 block of Western Avenue in South Bend and police say the suspect was wearing a McDonald’s uniform.

The suspect, Timothy Williams, entered the Burger King around 6 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 10.

Williams used the restroom, ordered a breakfast sandwich, then grabbed the cashier by the scarf and told her she was being robbed and to give him all the money or he’d start keying everyone up, according to court documents released by the St. Joseph County Prosecutor’s Office.

Once the register was open, Williams grabbed two handfuls of cash and ran off, the court documents stated.

When police learned Williams was dressed in a McDonald’s uniform, they stopped at the McDonald’s restaurant near the Burger King on Western, where an employee said Williams had been sent home after arriving to work intoxicated, the court documents stated.

A McDonald’s assistant manager later identified Williams from a surveillance photo taken during the robbery.

Williams has a previous criminal history.

His bond was set at $100,000.
