GOSHEN, Ind. (AP) — A Goshen man has pleaded guilty to charges in connection with the double homicide of two men earlier this year.

The Elkhart Truth reports 19-year-old Luis Alberto Rivas pleaded guilty Friday in Elkhart Circuit Court to a felony charge of assisting a criminal. Two counts of murder against Rivas were dismissed as part of a deal with prosecutors.

The victims of the March 13 shootings were 27-year-old Jose Nava-Orozco and 43-year-old Marco Carmona-Gonzalez. Rivas and co-defendant Diego Ramos were arrested three days later.

As part of a plea agreement, Rivas said he helped Ramos burn evidence and make false statements to police to impede investigators. Rivas also admitted to being part of a criminal gang.

Ramos faces two murder charges and is scheduled to go to trial Aug. 15.
