Funeral arrangements set for Ron Kienzle

Funeral arrangements have been set for Ron Kienzle, one of the two bailiffs who was shot and killed by an inmate attempting to escape custody at the Berrien County Courthouse on Monday.

Kienzle, 63, was a U.S. Army Veteran and retired as a sergeant from the Benton Charter Township Police Department. He started working at the courthouse as a bailiff in April 2005 and was expected to retire from that job soon.

A visitation service will for Kienzle will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, July 17, at Starks and Menchinger Chapel and Cremation Services, 2650 Niles Road, St. Joseph, Mich.

A celebration of life service will begin at 1 p.m. Monday, July 18, at the Lake Michigan College Mendel Center, 2755 E. Napier Ave., Benton Harbor, Mich.
