A Chicago Cubs outfielder chosen for the MLB All-Star Game will be playing with the South Bend Cubs over the weekend.

Dexter Fowler will be the DH at Four Winds Field on Friday night and play in the outfield on Saturday, then be re-evaluated Sunday, the Chicago Tribune reported. He could play in South Bend on Sunday but isn’t expected to join the Chicago Cubs in Pittsburgh.

Fowler was placed on the disabled list June 18 when he strained his right hamstring. His visit to South Bend is part of his rehab.

The MLB All-Star Game is Tuesday and Fowler plans on going to the game in San Diego even if he can’t play.

“It’s a long season,” he said. “You have to be smart about it.”
