Moped rider dies after crash in St. Joseph, Michigan

A 70-year-old St. Joseph, Mich., man died after he fell off of his moped and was hit by a vehicle in St. Joseph on Sunday morning, Oct. 18.

Tim Macdonald was riding a moped westbound on Pearl Street and crossing Main Street at about 11:42 a.m. when he rode into the paths of two oncoming vehicles, according to the St. Joseph Department of Public Safety.

Macdonald attempted evasive maneuvers to avoid hitting the vehicles. One vehicle stopped in time to avoid a collision, but the man fell off the moped and the other vehicle struck him.

Macdonald died at the scene, the St. Joseph Department of Public Safety said. Nobody else was injured.

The crash remains under investigation.
