Suspect charged in connection with 1st Source Bank robbery in South Bend

A suspect has been arrested and charged in connection with a robbery at a South Bend bank.

It was back on Saturday, Oct. 12, when South Bend Police were called to the 1st Source Bank in the 4500 block of W. Western Avenue on the report of an Armed Robbery.

Upon arrival, officers spoke with bank employees, who provided a description of the suspect. The employees indicated the suspect passed a note that read, “I have a gun and a bomb. Give me your money now.”

The suspect left the bank with a large amount of money.

Using video evidence, South Bend Police Major Crimes Unit Detective Stephanie Northcutt was able to identify and ultimately locate the suspect, Jose Medrano, 56.

Medrano has been charged with Robbery and is being held at the St. Joseph County Jail.
