Parts of Elkhart under temporary Boil Water Advisory starting Wednesday

As a precautionary measure, the City of Elkhart Public Works and Utilities Department has issued a temporary Boil Water Advisory for starting on Oct. 9.
The reason for the boil advisory is that repair of a water main valve will result in a loss of water pressure in the affected area.
The City anticipates the advisory will be in effect until Oct. 11, but the advisory will remain in effect until the City issues a statement that the Boil Water Advisory is lifted.
Customers in the affected area will also be without water between, approximately, 8 a.m. until 12 p.m.
The affected area is shown in the image attached, but is generally described as:
  • W. Lexington Ave from Main St. to Lexington St. Bridge
  • N. 5th St from W. Lexington Ave. to Jefferson St.
  • Moody Ave from N. 6th St. to N 5th St.
  • S. 4th St from W. Lexington Ave. to W High St.
  • S. 3rd St from W. Lexington Ave. to W High St.
  • S. 2nd St from W. Jackson Blvd. to W Lexington Ave.
All water from the municipal water system should be boiled for three minutes before use.
The City will issue a statement at the time when the Order is no longer in effect.
For health related questions and concerns, please seek medical advice from your health care provider or Elkhart County Health Department.
Restaurants in the affected area may contact the Elkhart County Health Department at (574) 875-3391. For other questions on the temporary Boil Water Advisory, contact the Public Works Administrative Office at (574)293-2572.
