Man arrested in connection with Elkhart shooting

Elkhart Police have arrested a man in connection with a shooting that took place early Monday morning.
Police were called around 4:50 a.m. on Monday, Sep. 30, to the Marathon Gas Station in the 1500 block of West Franklin Street where they made contact with a 59 year-old woman in a vehicle with the male suspect.
The victim reported that the male suspect shot at her in the 100 block of Union Street, then drove her to the gas station.
Medics transported the victim to the hospital for evaluation and treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
Officers took the 51-year-old man she was with into custody on preliminary charges. So far, there’s no word about the circumstances that led to the shooting.
