Five people are facing charges in connection to an armed robbery in Elkhart.

It happened late at night on Friday, September 13. Two victims told police they were robbed at gunpoint while sitting in their car near apartments on Middlebury Street.

According to police, two masked men approached, threatening the female driver with a knife and striking her with a gun magazine, while another suspect stole the male passenger’s wallet and vape.

Following a search, police arrested five suspects: Alora Layton, Carrie Layton, Emarri Redmond, Kaleb Goodwin, and Issac Duckworth.

The Goshen News says at their initial hearings, all but Redmond were assigned public defenders, as Redmond reportedly refused to attend.

The other four were scheduled for separate jury trials on March 3.
