South Bend Police searching for suspect in Monday’s shooting

The South Bend Police Department is actively searching for 29-year-old Tronell Morgan, who has been charged in connection with a shooting that occurred earlier this week.
On Monday, SeP. 23, officers responded to a ShotSpotter alert around 1:40 p.m. in the 2200 block of S. Michigan Street. The call was quickly upgraded to a shooting. Upon arrival, police found a woman with a gunshot wound. She was rushed to the hospital, where she is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Following an investigation by the Violent Crimes Unit, Morgan was identified as the suspect in the shooting. He now faces several charges, including battery by means of a deadly weapon, residential entry, unlawful possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon, battery resulting in bodily injury, and disorderly conduct.
Morgan remains at large and is considered armed and dangerous. Authorities are urging the public not to approach him if spotted. Instead, they should call 9-1-1.
