IU football team now 4-0 for only the 8th time in school history

The Indiana Hoosier football team moved to 4-0 with a 52-14 triumph over the Charlotte 49ers on Saturday afternoon at Memorial Stadium.

The Hoosiers are 4-0 for only the third time since 1991 and just the eighth time in school history. Indiana has surpassed last year’s win total when they went 3-9.

Charlotte scored a touchdown to get within three at 17-14 late in the second quarter. Indiana scored 35 unanswered points after that.

Four different players for Indiana scored at least one rushing touchdown. Ty Son Lawton scored two, Kaelon Black, Justice Ellison, and quarterback Kurtis Rourke each had one.

Rourke also completed 16 of 20 passes for 258 yards and had one passing touchdown. He also wasn’t sacked.

Indiana finished with 510 total yards while Charlotte had 256.

Charlotte dropped to 1-3 with the defeat.

Indiana plays Maryland September 28 at noon. Pregame coverage starts at 11 am on 93.5 and 107.5 The Fan.

Maryland is 3-1 after beating Villanova Saturday afternoon 38-20.
