Cancer deaths in the U.S. have declined. That’s according to a report released by the American Association for Cancer Research, which found that the cancer death rate went down by 33% between 1991 and 2021.
The rate for children and adolescents has dropped by 24% in the past two decades.
The report found the decline attributable to earlier detection, lower smoking rates, and treatment improvements. But, the authors warn that alcohol is still a lesser-known risk factor.
