One day after the Newton County, Indiana Sheriff’s Office posted an update that Corporal Brandon Schrieber would not survive his injuries, the officer has died.
Schrieber was shot in the line of duty earlier this month. He died Wednesday morning.
Following his death, law enforcement organizations posted messages of support. IMPD wrote, “The IMPD extends our…condolences to the Newton County Sheriff’s Office and all who knew…him.”
The officer was likely shot by Andrew Roselius on September 1st. Roselius had entered the Hoosier state from Illinois during a police chase, and he was eventually shot and killed.
Illinois State Police are leading this investigation. Schrieber’s funeral arrangements are “pending.”
