A new statewide safety campaign is aiming to keep Michigan roads safer.

The Michigan State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division will be sending safety messages to the electronic logging devices of truckers.

They can send short messages of no more than 25 characters, warning them of road hazards, speeding, crashes and more.

Truckers can receive the message audible or through the geofence messaging, and the messages can be deployed statewide or depending on problems in particular zones where the driver is located.

The campaign was officially launched last week.
