One man was arrested after reports of an erratic driver in Marshall County on Wednesday.

36-year-old Mathew Hellums of Warsaw was identified as the driver after a sergeant with the sheriff’s office located and followed him for a short distance to the Pilot Travel Center nearby.

Hellums reportedly failed field sobriety tests, and probable cause was found that he was under the influence of a controlled substance.

Syringes, suspected meth, and suspected fentanyl were found in the van, and court records show Hellums had been arrested in other counties in July for separate drug-related charges.

He was arrested and charged with multiple drug possession charges as well as with Operating While Intoxicated.
