A Chesterton man was killed in a crash on I-80/94 in Lake County.  The crash happened around 2:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 27, between the Burr and Grant Street exits.
Indiana State Police say a passenger vehicle rear-ended a box-bucket truck that was parked on the shoulder.
The collision happened at a high rate of speed.
The car’s driver, 36-year-old Corey Stephen Nicholas, was unresponsive and pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say the box truck had mechanical problems and the driver set up orange cones on the side and behind the truck, as required.
The driver of the truck was not hurt.
