Mosquitoes in Elkhart County have been confirmed to have West Nile Virus.
The county health department says they were collected earlier this month.
Animal experts with the Indiana DNR say people need to remove any standing water that could attract the bugs and use insect repellent with DEET.
Officials also recommend staying inside in the late afternoon and early morning.
Some symptoms of West Nile include a fever, lost or impaired vision, numbness in your extremities, and confusion.
Anybody with questions regarding West Nile Virus can call the Elkhart County Health Department at 574-971-4600.
