The U.S. Attorney for Northern Indiana declined to prosecute Aaron Thompson, who threatened to kill Congressman Jim Banks and his family.
That’s according to a letter obtained by ABC News.
Thompson, who left violent messages for Banks, was given two years of probation by local authorities. The letter questions why the U.S. Attorney didn’t take action.
Thompson’s voicemail included threats like, “Three daughters… three bullets… one wife… two bullets.”
The FBI visited Thompson’s home, where he admitted to making the threats. Banks wrote the letter to Attorney General Merrick Garland, inquiring why, despite evidence of federal law violations the U.S. Attorney chose not to prosecute.
Garland recently emphasized the importance of addressing threats to Congress, however, Banks’ inquiry remains unanswered by the Justice Department.
