First Friday in June celebrated as National Donut Day

openverse.com

If you have a sweet tooth, this Friday is guaranteed to be one of your favorite holidays.

The first Friday in June is National Donut Day, as founded by The Salvation Army.

Dating back to 1917 when The Salvation Army’s volunteers traveled to France to bring supplies and support, they were named “Donut Lassies” for the donuts they fried and served to thousands.

Now, The Salvation Army continues to provide services and programs to community members, and they also continue celebrating National Donut Day. Staff and board members will be delivering donuts to key community partners and will aslo be handing out donuts to the public.

Members of the community  can head to All Things Snacks in Elkhart from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Friday where The Salvation Army will be giving away donuts to celebrate the sweetest holiday.
