While you may associate Indiana State Police with helping humans, some of the organization’s officers also helped animals in need on Tuesday, May 28.

Officers with the Lowell Post were searching for a suspect Tuesday morning, when a K-9 found four kittens that had been left in the woods.

Two escaped, but the other two were taken to safety.

A little while later, another trooper saw an injured owl near Chesterton. He then took the owl to a wildlife center in Porter County.
