Officers with the Lowell Post were searching for a suspect Tuesday morning, when a K-9 found four kittens that had been left in the woods.
Two escaped, but the other two were taken to safety.
A little while later, another trooper saw an injured owl near Chesterton. He then took the owl to a wildlife center in Porter County.
