House in Bristol destroyed in Memorial Day fire

A home in Bristol was destroyed in a fire Monday afternoon.

Firefighters spent part of their Memorial day battling the massive blaze in the 100 block of Vistula Street downtown, according to WNDU. One person was in the house but was able to escape. Crews spent hours fighting the fire, which destroyed multiple structures and downed powerlines.

NIPSCO crews were called in to make the area safe, and fire crews from Middlebury and Osolo Township assisted in the effort to put out the fire.
