LaPorte woman dead after two-vehicle crash

An elderly woman from LaPorte died in a two-vehicle crash in LaPorte County.  It happened around 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 19, in the 8300 block of County Road 400 North.
The initial on-scene investigation determined that a black 2016 Audi, being driven by a 74-year-old , of LaPorte woman had been traveling east on CR 400 North.  The Audi traveled left of center and into the westbound lane of travel.
A blue 2021 Subaru, being driven by a 68-year-old LaPorte woman had been traveling west on CR 400 North.
A collision between the Audi and Subaru occurred in the westbound lane of CR 400 North.
A passenger of the Audi sustained an upper body injury.   A passenger of the Subaru, Carol Lukes, 92, of LaPorte, also sustained an upper body injury.  Both passengers were taken to the hospital for care.
Lukes had passed away from injuries.
The two drivers were not hurt.
