Two pet parrots die in South Ironwood Drive house fire

There were no human injuries, but two pet parrots died in a house fire in Mishawaka.
Fire crews were called to the 500 block of South Ironwood Drive, just before 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 14, to find heavy smoke coming from the structure.
The Mishawaka Fire Department was assisted by the South Bend Fire crew to get the flames knocked down.
The fire was extinguished in a short amount of time.
The parrots that died appeared to have suffered injuries from smoke inhalation.
