A Nappanee woman charged with murdering her husband has had her initial hearing.
70-year-old Linda Tener allegedly shot her husband, 71-year-old Johnnie Tener, on Friday at their son’s home on County Road 9. Around 4:50 a.m., her daughter-in-law contacted police to warn that Tener was pointing a firearm at her son, Eric, but Eric reportedly wrestled the gun away from Linda and pinned her down.
When officers arrived at the scene, they found a pink revolver and went to the Tener’s nearby home where they found Johnnie deceased in a recliner with an apparent gunshot wound.
The Goshen News says Eric told police that his mother had been hospitalized and treated for anxiety the day prior but said that he did not notice any hostility between his parents when he dropped his mom off at home after being released from the hospital.
Linda’s jury trial is scheduled for December 2.
