The South Bend school board has approved the old Studebaker building downtown as the site of a new career hub.
They want to use it for the district’s Career and Technical Education courses, where students learn hands-on skills which can lead to job opportunities.
The board approved the $18.5 million development., despite concerns about declining enrollment.
The hub is planned to occupy nearly 40,000 square feet on the second and third floors of the Studebaker building.
Before the purchase can happen, a public hearing and a final vote will need to take place. ABC 57 News says the district wants to break ground in May.

I am confused Why spend 19 million when you have Clay High School paid for ????
The headline should read “SBCSC would rather waste $18.5M on a dead building instead of following Indiana law and letting a charter school start up there.”
Sometimes the real story is hidden between the lines.
