More than 1,600 teaching positions were open in Indiana at the start of this past school year.
Lawmakers are working on a bill that would create a transition to teaching scholarship for people who want to quit their job and become a teacher.
The bill says you would have to have a bachelor’s degree, get an initial practitioner license, and teach in Indiana for at least five years.
The bill passed in the House. Now the Senate is reviewing it.
