The Berrien County Sheriff’s Office deputies had to deploy stop sticks during a chase on Sunday.

Around 5:15 a.m., a vehicle driven by a suspect wanted for multiple charges reportedly sped away from Covert Township Police officers.

BCSO deputies took over the chase when the vehicle fled south into Berrien County.

An officer deployed stop sticks and flattened one tire on the vehicle, though the chase continued through St. Joseph, Stevensville and Bridgman before another stop stick was deployed, flattening two more tires.

The vehicle went off the road and crashed in Chikaming Township.

The driver of the vehicle was arrested and taken to Corewell Lakeland hospital, but was released and booked into the Berrien County Jail.
