BBB: Watch out for winter clean up scammers

An Arctic one-two punch of snow and frigid temperatures has some in Michiana looking for ways to clean up after the storm.

This is especially true in western Michigan, where snow totals were over a foot in many areas. The Better Business Bureau in West Michigan is advising everyone who is looking to hire help for winter storm cleanup that there are scammers and bad businesses looking to take advantage of them. Many will pose as community members on social media and pressure people into making a quick decision on hiring a plow service or repair company that is not legitimate.

The BBB reminds you to do your research before hiring anyone to do work, protecting your personal information, and verifying licenses for these contractors. You can always learn more tips at https://BBB.org.
