If you’re looking to get outside more or have a New Year resolution to get more exercise, the Southwest Michigan Trails Challenge may be the challenge for you.

It’s open to all ages throughout the year, and prize incentives are involved. Participants can hike, bike, wheelchair, paddle, ski and more on the trail’s designation, or they can go along Lake Michigan’s shoreline and rivers, over dunes, through forests and more.

To enter the Trails Challenge, participants must download the Visit Southwest Michigan app from the App Store and set up an account.

Then, start the Trails Challenge in the app and take a selfie by the trailhead or sign and upload it on the app.

The first 100 people to complete five trail check-ins will receive a branded belt back and a sticker celebrating their achievements. It’s a free challenge, though some trails may require parking or admission fees.
