Former Indianapolis Colts punter Hunter Smith is jumping into politics with a run for the Indiana House seat being given up by Republican Rep. Donna Schaibley.
Smith played for the Colts for 10 seasons, including winning Super Bowl XVI in 2007. He finished up his NFL career with a 2 year stint in Washington.
A Sherman, Texas native, Smith now resides in Boone County.
Smith says he’s motivated by issues such as adoption and low taxes, and because of his regenerative farm business, environmental matters are an interest.
Smith is a Notre Dame graduate, and was drafted by the Colts in 1999.
