Two people seriously hurt in crash on State Road 19 south of US 20 bypass

Two drivers were seriously injured when one vehicle crossed the center line and struck the other. The collision happened around 7:15 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 2, on State Road 19 south of County Road 26.

Investigators say a 56-year-old Plymouth man was traveling southbound, went left of center, and collided with a vehicle driven by a 47-year-old Nappanee woman who was traveling northbound.

The woman was trapped inside her vehicle and had to be extricated by emergency crews. She suffered injuries all over her body and was rushed to Memorial Hospital.

The man who police cited for the crash suffered a head injury and was taken to Elkhart General Hospital for treatment.
