Bids are currently open for work on a new outdoor warning system in St. Joseph County.

The county says the updated siren system, which will sound the alarm ahead of dangers or hazards, will have three new sounds aside from tornado sirens.

WSBT reports that the contract is set to be awarded on October 17 with completion expected by October 31 of next year.

Carl Baxmeyer, County Commission President, says the new alarm system will make it easier for residents to hear the warning sirens, which is important for everyone’s safety.

Just make sure you do not have a stupid stooge in charge of activating the alarm like happened on Maui a few weeks ago.
