A member of the embattled Elkhart Parks Board has stepped down, citing inappropriate behavior by her colleagues among her reasons.
Tonda Hines has been a board member for the past two and half years. She told the South Bend Tribune that she resigned on Tuesday because she doesn’t feel some members of the board act in an ethical or professional manner. Hines says she has seen board members and other staff act unprofessionally with the public when they have come to the office.
Some in the community have called on the board to resign in the wake of a city council audit that uncovered financial mismanagement, a lack of following policy at meetings, and after problems caused the shut down of the Tolson Center by the City Council.
