(Taylor Popielarz/ABC 57)

The investigation into a fatal fire that killed two people in the Goshen area continues over a week later.

The Elkhart County Coroner has positively identified the two people who died in the fire as 44-year-old Joel Schneider and 61-year-old Donna Schneider of Goshen.

The coroner is still awaiting toxicology and microscopic analysis to come back before a final cause and manner of death can be determined. An initial report by the corner stated that it appears the died due to thermal injuries and “products of combustion.”

It’s also unknown exactly what caused the fire on County Road 45 in Concord Township on Sunday, Jan. 7.
