ETNA GREEN, Ind. (AP) — Authorities say three people have died and two others have been injured after a van and a semitrailer collided in northern Indiana.

The driver of the van, 37-year-old Samita Sood of Fort Wayne, told the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department that she was eastbound on U.S. 30 Thursday night when she turned into the path of the semitrailer near State Road 19, outside the town of Etna Green, about 30 miles south of South Bend.

A coroner declared two of her passengers, 69-year-old Subhash Sood of Fort Wayne and 70-year-old Ramesh Chand of Elmhurst, New York, dead at the scene, and a third passenger, 46-year-old Navedita Bhambhani of Forest Hills, New York, died Friday morning at a Fort Wayne hospital.

Sood and a fourth passenger were hospitalized in serious condition. The semitrailer driver wasn’t hurt.
