Temporary Boil Water Advisory issued for portions of Elkhart

As a precautionary measure, the City of Elkhart Public Works and Utilities Department hereby issues a Temporary Boil Water Advisory for the City of Elkhart Water Utility. The affected area is:

S 2nd St from W Lexington Ave to W Marion St
S 3rd St from W Lexington Ave to W Franklin St
S 4th St from W Lexington Ave to W Franklin St
W High St from S 5th St to S 2nd St
W Franklin St from S 4th St to S 2nd St .

The reason for the boil advisory is a water main break. A limited number of customers are still without water, but water should be restored by 8 p.m. on Thursday night, but the city anticipates the order will be in effect until Saturday evening, though the advisory will remain in effect until the City issues a statement that the Temporary Boil Water Advisory is lifted.

All water from the municipal water system should be boiled for three minutes before use. The City will issue a statement at the time when the Order is no longer in effect. For health related questions and concerns, please seek medical advice from your health care provider or Elkhart County Health Department. Restaurants in the affected area may contact the Elkhart County Health Department at (574) 971-4600 for instructions on operating.
