Mishawaka has opened its brand-new fire station, marking a significant investment in public safety.
The new Fire Station #2 on East McKinley Avenue replaces an outdated facility that served the city for over 60 years.
This $12 million project includes a 3.9-acre site, which the School City of Mishawaka sold to the fire department for just $1.
In return, leaders improved traffic patterns for school pick-ups and drop-offs, calling it a win for the school and the Mishawaka community.
