The Potawatomi Zoo is proud to present Zoo Boo, its annual trick-or-treating event, October 18-20. Zoo Boo hours are 2-9 pm on October 18 and 19, and 10 am – 5 pm on October 20.

The Zoo is closed for regular admission October 18-20.

Regular admission to Zoo Boo is $12 per person, and free for babies 2 and under. Admission tickets can be purchased in advance online or at the gate. Zoo Members receive a 50% discount on admission to this special event. Zoo Member admission can be purchased at the gate

All paid admissions will receive a ticket to trick or treat around the Treat Trail. The Zoo’s Trick or Treat Trail stations include volunteers from local companies and organizations, as well as the Potawatomi Zoo Crew volunteers. In an effort to be more environmentally conscious, the Zoo encourages visitors to bring their own trick or treat bag to put candy in.

“This is one of our favorite Zoo events every year, and it’s a great opportunity for families and children to enjoy the Zoo in a different way,” says Josh Sisk, executive director of the Potawatomi Zoo. “It’s a little different every year, which makes it even more fun, but as always, we’ll have trick or treat stations, great photo ops, and fun activities like pumpkin bowling, food vendors, the Haunted Train, and giraffe feeding.”

The Haunted Train is one of Zoo Boo attendees’ favorite features. After 5 pm on Friday and Saturday, the Haunted Train route will have lights and scare actors, and it may not be suitable for all ages. The train won’t have any scary lights or actors on Sunday.

Other Zoo Boo attractions include riding the carousel and feeding the giraffes. Giraffe feeding will be available on Friday and Saturday from 2-6:30 pm and 10:30 am to 4 pm on Sunday.

All attraction tickets are $3 per ticket, or visitors can use Zoo Attraction Passes.

The South Bend Civic Theatre children’s group will be performing at various times during the weekend.

Zoo Boo will have plenty of food and drink including local food vendors like Keim’s Elephant Ears, Knights of Columbus, Professor Butterbeer, Randy’s Kettle Korn, Sugar Rush, Dippin’ Dots, and Tom’s Coffee. The Lodge will also be open with State Fair donuts, hot dogs, sandwiches, hot drinks, and more.

Costumes are encouraged for both children and adults, but not required. No full-face masks are allowed on visitors 15 and older.

For the health and safety of our animals, some exhibits may be closed after dark. The best time to view the animals is before 5 pm.
