State of Michigan still struggling to hire police officers

(95.3 MNC)
State of Michigan is still struggling to hire police officers.
Nearly 75 percent of law enforcement agencies in The Great Lakes State are struggling to hire qualified police officers. That’s according to a new study released by The University of Michigan.
Bridge Michigan reports that some departments are offering signing bonuses of up to $5,000 dollars to attract officer candidates. By comparison, in 2015 only 22 percent of communities in the state had trouble hiring new cops.
Officer pay in the state is roughly $65,000, an amount that has trouble competing with private sector pay.
