Marshawn Johnson, the third suspect wanted in connection with the February 2024 homicide of James Stewart III, has been arrested. Johnson, 22, was apprehended with the assistance of multiple law enforcement agencies, including the St. Joseph County Warrants Division, the St. Joseph County Warrants Task Force, Mishawaka Police, the US Marshals Service, the LaPorte County Sheriff’s Department, and the Elkhart Police Department.
The arrest brings an end to a months-long manhunt for Johnson, who, along with 22-year-old Demarko Robinson and 19-year-old Jamir Johnson, was charged with Murder and Conspiracy to Commit Murder. The charges stem from the February 1st incident in which Stewart was found dead inside a vehicle near Johnson Street and Fassnacht Avenue, having been shot multiple times.
Robinson and Jamir Johnson were previously apprehended, but Marshawn Johnson had remained at large. Authorities believed he was hiding in the South Bend area and warned the public that he should be considered armed and dangerous.
Marshawn Johnson is now being held at the St. Joseph County Jail, pending further legal proceedings.
