18-year-old arrested for making online threat against Goshen High School

An 18-year-old has been arrested for allegedly making a threat against the Goshen High School community.

Goshen Police learned about the social media threat on Wednesday.

Goshen Schools notified parents before the school day started.

Late Wednesday afternoon, Sep. 18, Elkhart County SWAT Team officers conducted a search warrant and charged Andre Smith.

No weapons were found during the search.

On September 18th, 2024, the Goshen Police Department was notified of a specific threat made to Goshen High School through a social media account. Officers took immediate action to notify Goshen Community Schools of the threat. Goshen Community Schools promptly notified parents before the start of the school day. The Goshen Police Department conducted an intensive investigation throughout the day to ascertain the origins of the threat. At 4:54 PM the Elkhart County Regional SWAT team executed a search warrant at 149 Winchester Trail in Goshen. Investigating officers from the Goshen Police Department charged 18-year-old Andre Brandon Smith with a Level 6 Felony for Intimidation. The investigation is ongoing, it’s believed at this time that Andre Brandon Smith acted alone. There were no indications of weapons located during the search.
