Elkhart Mayor unveils 2025 spending plan

Elkhart Mayor Rod Roberson presented the city’s 2025 budget during a press conference at Walker Park, a site currently undergoing upgrades as part of the ASPIRE initiative.

“After months of planning, we are pleased to present the 2025 budget to the people of Elkhart,” Mayor Roberson stated on Monday afternoon, Sep. 16. He emphasized the city’s continued investment in parks, public safety, and infrastructure, aligning with the ASPIRE Elkhart plan. “Investing in neighborhood parks and quality-of-life amenities helps our residents love where they live,” Roberson added.

The budget will officially be introduced at the Elkhart Common Council meeting on Monday evening, where ordinances will be presented on the first reading. The public is welcome to attend, though no comments will be taken at that time.

Key Dates for 2025 Budget Process:

  • Monday, September 16, 1:00 p.m.: Press conference at Walker Park (3401 E. Bristol St.)
  • Monday, September 16, 7:00 p.m.: Budget ordinances introduced at City Hall
  • Saturday, September 21, 9:00 a.m.: Budget hearings at The Lerner Theatre
  • Monday, October 7, 7:00 p.m.: Public hearing at City Hall, public comments accepted
  • Monday, October 21, 7:00 p.m.: Final budget adoption at City Hall
