Michigan City Man sentenced to over 7 years for drug and firearm offenses
Demetrius Roberson, 51, of Michigan City, Indiana, has been sentenced to 88 months in prison for drug and firearm offenses. The sentence was handed down by U.S. District Court Judge Damon R. Leichty following Roberson’s guilty plea to charges of possession with intent to distribute cocaine and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, according to U.S. Attorney Clifford D. Johnson.
Roberson’s prison term will be followed by three years of supervised release.
Court documents reveal that between December 2022 and February 2023, Roberson sold cocaine on seven occasions, totaling about two ounces. A February 2023 search of his home uncovered nearly 400 grams of cocaine, a pound of marijuana, two handguns, and over $5,000 in cash.
Roberson’s conviction highlights ongoing efforts to tackle drug trafficking and illegal firearm possession in the region.
