Arrest made after woman was shot outside of U.S. Bankruptcy Court building in South Bend

The South Bend Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit is investigating a shooting near the city’s downtown area.
It happened around 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday, Sep. 5.
SOuth Bend Police were dispatched to the 400 block of S. Michigan Street on the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located a female victim, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. She was transported to the hospital and is reported to be in critical condition.
Juan Moreno, 29, of South Bend has been arrested on a preliminary charge of Criminal Recklessness.
Though the shooting occurred just outside the United States Bankruptcy Court building, at this time, there is no preliminary evidence to suggest the shooting was related to the court. Police have not released any information about a possible motive.
